Welcome to a love story that proves sometimes the best things in life come to those who wait. Meet Alicia and Lawrence, whose paths crossed at the corporate office of Whataburger (my FAV fastfood burger!!), of all places. Their journey to love may not have been love at first sight, but it led them to a beautiful and intimate wedding at Strawberry Pines in Poteet, Texas, on April 1, 2023. Get ready to be swept away by their story!
A Connection Beyond the Office:
It wasn’t love at first sight, but rather a friendship that laid the foundation for something beautiful. Alicia and Lawrence worked together at the Whataburger corporate office and even played softball together. Their connection was purely platonic at first, but little did they know that life had more in store for them.
Fast forward to a post-pandemic world, and sparks ignited when they reconnected. It didn’t take long for their connection to evolve into something more. Sometimes, the most beautiful love stories take time to unfold.
A Proposal at Niagara Falls:
On December 13, 2021, Lawrence took Alicia by surprise with a proposal at the majestic Niagara Falls while visiting her family in Canada. It was Lawrence’s first international trip, and he made it a moment to remember. Love knows no bounds, and the beauty of Niagara Falls mirrored the love Alicia and Lawrence shared.
As “Hunny” to each other, they embarked on their journey to marriage. On April 1, 2023, they exchanged vows at Strawberry Pines, a charming setting that perfectly encapsulated their love story.
Their wedding was a celebration of love with family and friends. While they didn’t have any specific non-traditional plans, the excitement to celebrate with their nearest and dearest was palpable.
Dreaming of Italy:
The honeymoon plans include a dreamy tour of Italy. From breathtaking views to delicious cuisine and rich culture, Alicia and Lawrence are in for an adventure of a lifetime.
Their post-marriage plans are simple yet beautiful—have fun, enjoy life together, embark on adventures, share laughter, and build a family. It’s all about cherishing the moments that life brings their way.
As a couple, Alicia and Lawrence love the outdoors, especially being by the water and rivers. Camping, fishing, and quality family time are their go-to activities. They’re also music enthusiasts, particularly enjoying country music concerts.
Alicia learned from Lawrence the art of relaxation and savoring the present moment. On the other hand, Lawrence learned that hard work is the key to achieving the things that are truly worth it. Together, they’ve embraced the mantra of “work hard, play hard.”
Both of them work in finance, with Alicia focusing on analytics and Lawrence in forecasting. After a long and stressful day, they unwind with the usual comforts, but more importantly, they come together to talk, enjoy a glass of wine (or whiskey for Lawrence), and share a delicious meal. Sometimes, a simple walk helps them decompress from the day’s challenges.
Furry Friends:
Alicia has a small poodle, who has been her cuddly companion for eight years and Lawrence is equally smitten with Gus. They also recently welcomed Coco, a lab mix puppy, into their lives. Despite being a little menace, Coco’s sweetness and adorableness have captured their hearts. I got to meet Gus on as Alicia readied for her wedding day, but CoCo was not there.
Alicia and Lawrence’s love story is a testament to the power of patience and timing. Their journey from friendship to love, culminating in a beautiful wedding at Strawberry Pines, is a reminder that love often blooms when we least expect it. Cheers to Alicia and Lawrence as they embrace the adventure of life together, with love, laughter, and a passion for the great outdoors!

About Ata-Girl
I am a San Antonio-based wedding photographer and I cater to outdoor-loving couples who prefer to have all the realness captured on their wedding days. I am the wedding photographer for the outdoor adventurers, the romantics, the laid-back, the snugglers, and those who wish to capture all their realness.
I am absolutely in love with capturing the kinds of weddings where there are more hugs than handshakes, the dance floor rumbles all night long, and chairs are pretty much rendered useless after dinner. Whiskey bottles are passed around, most of the wedding party has been best-best friends since kindergarten, Grams is likely to lose her shoes and your partner is much more emotional than you are. These kinds of weddings are my jam!
You can always call or text, but if you really want to get to know me, schedule a meetup!
I started Ata-Girl Photography Co., LLC in 2010. I firmly believe that the unique set of circumstances I have faced in life has prepared me to take a personal and genuine interest in my photography clients. I enjoy documenting the important milestones and captivating moments in people’s lives. I love being a part of people’s journeys and consider myself privileged to document their legacies.

I am a published author (purchase my book here), a podcast host (listen here) (watch here) and a WPPI-C certified professional, full-time wedding photographer. I specialize in a 10-day image delivery, same-day prints, same-day slideshows, Italian handcrafted wedding albums and I have a mobile meeting space.
When I’m not behind my camera, you can find me hiking, cycling, backpacking, camping, enjoying water sports, listening to music (Elvis and Prince), hunting for arrowheads, reading audiobooks, occasionally eating a few glazed donuts (my only weakness to sweets) and then re-starting my keto diet about every 10 days. The most important things in life are for me to see my two daughters happy and to create a family history my grandparents and grandchildren would be proud of.
