Old Mill Resort
This Gruene wedding venue is not your typical wedding venue. Few wedding venues are situated on more than a couple of acres. Few venues have ballrooms bigger than 5,000 square feet. Very few venues can sleep more than a handful of your guests. Nearly none offers those guests a resort condo to slumber in AND a swimming pool to relax in. Even less of these venues make all of these accommodations possible in the heart of a quaint (but happening) historical district that is the perfect backdrop for your destination wedding… well, except for Old Mill Resort.

This hill country destination wedding resort sprawls across 21 acres and is a short walking distance to both the scenic Guadalupe River AND the Gruene Historic District.
The beautiful ballroom is a spacious 8,500 square feet and can easily accommodate up to 350 of your favorite wedding guests.
The ballroom/event center also has separate men/women restroom stalls, a wheel-chair/dolly-accessible stage, a bridal suite and private restroom, an upstairs groom’s room and private restroom, an indoor, private stairway in the back of the ballroom, a playroom for children, and a catering kitchen.
There are options to have an indoor ceremony (below), outside underneath the 100-year-old Oak trees, or even in other spaces that haven’t even been utilized for a ceremony yet.
Here’s a peek at the outdoor ceremony site.
And here’s an area where I can totally envision a ceremony happening. No vows have been exchanged here yet, so you could be the first.
Your wedding party can enter from each side of the balcony to the downstairs aisle… maybe even give a few guests a bird’s eye view of the nuptials. Just imagine descending down this staircase while your wedding veil trails. You could have your procession come down one stairway and your recession go up the opposite. After you’ve been pronounced, you could go to the top of the stairs and wave at all your guests (and kiss again!). Done up properly, this could be a beautiful area… especially if you want something outdoors, but you don’t really dig trees and grass.
Okay, so let’s chat about guest accommodations for a bit, shall we? Old Mill Resort has the capacity to sleep 128 of your guests! This doesn’t mean cramming them all in shared bunkhouses and neglecting their privacy. This means giving each family the solitude of their very own resort condo complete with a functional kitchen, two or three (loft) bedrooms, multiple bathrooms, and cable television.
One of my favorite things about the condos is that each nightstand has a USB port handy and right in reach to charge your devices. There’s no need to pull the furniture away from the wall or unplug other things (lamps, alarm clocks, etc.) to look for outlets.
Say hello to the ADA-friendly swimming pool—most useful in Texas May through September and sometimes even outside of that window.
Again, Old Mill Resort is the perfect venue for your hill country destination wedding. Not only do they have everything covered for your Gruene wedding, it’s only .3 miles to downtown Historical Gruene. Downtown is the place for nearly-nightly live music at Gruene Hall, tons of shops to visit featuring many local artisans and vendor selections, and several choices fine dining. This is the place to begin your happily ever after.
Join them for their Bridal Gala on October 13, 2019 from noon to 5:00 p.m. to see all this spectacularness for yourself.
Enjoy some more of my favorite images from this Gruene wedding venue.

I started Ata-Girl Photography Co., LLC in 2010. I firmly believe that the unique set of circumstances I have faced in life has prepared me to take a personal and genuine interest in my photography clients. I enjoy documenting the important milestones and captivating moments in people’s lives. I love being a part of people’s journeys and consider myself privileged to document their legacies.
When I’m not photographing a wedding, family or high school senior, I love to spend my spare time hiking, camping, cycling, reading, listening to Elvis and Prince. The most important things in life are for me to see my two daughters happy and to create a family history my grandparents and grandson would be proud of!
