Last November I had the wonderful opportunity to knock two items off of my photography bucket list: 1—shoot a San Antonio riverwalk wedding and 2—shoot a wedding with longtime photography friend, Chrystina Straughan of Straughan Photography.
I second shot for Chrystina at the Rio Plaza. Matt and Cara’s wedding was on the balcony and their reception was in the Grande Vista Room.
It’s almost like Matt and Cara had a crystal ball and new what the Pantone Color of the Year would be for 2018. I loved this wedding for a lot of reasons, but most importantly because the color scheme was all things purple… aka Ultra Violet PANTONE 18-3838.
San Antonio Riverwalk Wedding
I loved this wedding because the ceremony was on a rooftop.
I loved this wedding because the cake was decorated with white chocolate sculptures. The white chocolates were actually symbolic to Star Wars®, but since I’m not a fan, I didn’t get the reference. I had to be told. But, I do love me some white chocolate!
They had homemade cookies! Chocolate chip, peppermint and snickerdoodle!
I also loved this wedding because the bride and groom literally stayed on the dance floor all night long. They knew how to have a good time!
Lastly, Matt and Cara rode off in a horse-drawn white carriage. What a fairytale!
I loved the fact that ALL the parents shared in the father/daughter mother/son dance—they made it a “parent dance.” I loved the fact that half of the wedding guests didn’t rush off after dinner. In fact, the guests seemed to have so much fun—even the ones who never ventured onto the dance floor. I loved the scramble made for both the bouquet and the garter. I loved the sparkler exit (and no one caught on fire or lost an eye). I loved that this was a very cold night…. and Cara was so brave… leaving in her sleeveless wedding gown in a carriage without any cover.
This was a good great wedding.
