Want to know about the photographic possibilities?

It’s relatively easy to shoot a ceremony here—especially if the side walls are up on the chapel. You can get in, out and around in no time, and you can shoot from behind the officiant without causing too much distraction to the guests. That’s one thing I love for sure about the Chandelier of Gruene. I especially love trying to incorporate the white tailed deer into the ceremony images when they come out to feed in the evening hours. Typically, they come pretty close to the ceremony area and don’t spook too easily.

The plentiful oaks on the property look gorgeous in the background… specifically when I open up the aperture on my lens and make them extra blurry. The warm tones make any portrait pop with vibrant color!

Since there’s really not a clean spot to look at the horizon, you won’t be getting a sunset photo per se, but you can still get out just a few minutes earlier and grab some golden hour shots. Or if you prefer, wait until the sun goes down completely and get some shots with that romantic little chapel in the background. There’s also that playful little swing!

The polished floors in the ballroom are also a lot of fun to play around with. You can get some great shots that are reflective or look like double exposures.

Actually, there are too many choices! Schedule lots of playtime with your photographer! No one ever said, “Geez, I wish I had few wedding images!”

Introduction of the Chandelier of Gruene

The Chandelier of Gruene is a perfect mix of rustic elegance. There are shiny, reflective floors, Chicago-exposed brick, large windows, exposed wood beams, many glass chandeliers, iron doors, and 32-foot high ceilings. The 12,000 square foot climate-controlled ballroom has yet another 3,200 square feet of covered outdoor patios. There’s a lot of wow factor going on here for sure! The reception area can comfortably seat up to 500 guests. Whether your vision is rustic or full-on elegance in a secluded oasis, the Chandelier of Gruene is the perfect venue backdrop to fulfill your vision.

The open-air chapel ain’t nothing to scoff at either. You enter the chapel at the solid-constructed wall through antiqued French doors with a porch entry beneath the bell tower. The opposite wall is the eye candy of the entire chapel. It’s finished in natural rock with three beautiful, stained glass windows. One of the venue’s many namesake chandeliers hangs just above the altar area. There are rows and rows of authentic, wooden church pews and they can safely accommodate up to 300 guests.

Brief History of the Chandelier of Gruene

You’d never know it, but the Chandelier of Gruene had a modest beginning as a vacation rental. When Myra and Tim purchased the property in 2011, it already had a beautiful ranch home sitting among the many oak trees. The house, known as Escondido de Gruene, has hosted many family vacations and guests from all over the world. But because Myra already had extensive work experience in her family-owned bridal boutique from 35 years previous, it wasn’t long before she realized that she still longed to be part of the wedding and events industry. Together, with the help of her family, they turned this gorgeous and peaceful piece of property into the Chandelier of Gruene and now share the venue with many couples hoping they will find the same love and friendship that their family has found.

Ceremony, Cocktail & Reception Details

The main ceremony area is the open-air chapel located just steps from the ballroom and the getting ready suites for the bride and groom. Couples love to ring the chapel’s bell on their exit out of the ceremony.
The Chandelier’s couples typically host their cocktail hour just outside between the ballroom and the chapel. Another option would be around the fire ring in the cooler months of the year. The large grassy areas are perfect for lawn games.

The reception area is always in the ballroom. There is a large foyer entryway that can be closed off with oversized sliding barn doors. There is also a dedicated bar area, buffet, or cake service area and the entire ballroom has large windows on each side that allow a lot of natural light in on the east and west sides during the daytime.
