San Antonio Wedding Inspiration
The Red Berry Estate reopened its doors in 2020—much to my delight and, I would presume, the delight of a lot of couples who will soon be making wedding plans. […]
Where do I even begin? The entire estate is a photographer’s playground. The mansion has three floors and each might be more perfect than the next. There are plenty of windows (natural light), terraces, and too many nooks and crannies to name. Even the bathroom in the bridal suite is simply muah! If you like photo trickery with mirrors and reflections—wow! The groom’s room is both moody and masculine. The casino/basement can instantly put anyone in a party mood! Surely even in harsh lighting, you can find plenty of soft shade on the grounds, which by the way, are groomed immaculately. All the water features are a bonus! Be sure to be extra generous with time when scheduling your photographer. They will thank you!
The 12,000 square foot climate-controlled ballroom has yet another 3,200 square feet of covered outdoor space. Back in 2020 after spending 13 hours shooting a styled shoot at the Red Berry Estate, I dubbed the staircase inside the mansion, The Sexiest Staircase in All of San Antonio. I mean, if you see it, you’ll know why. The landing is the original marble floor, and the stairs are carpeted in leopard print flanked by wrought iron and gold railings. There is no detail that the RK Group did not overlook during the renovation of the late Senator’s estate. It’s actually some kind of time warp. When you walk through the front door, you can either choose to step back in time or enter in modern-day—your choice.
Built in 1951 by an eccentric Texas politician, the estate changed hands several times over the years. However, between 2012, when the City of San Antonio purchased the sprawling estate for $2.25 million, until 2019, the mansion sat mostly empty. In 2018, The RK Group re-imagined and began renovating and restoring the once-luxurious estate into a lakeside special events venue unlike anything else in San Antonio.
The Red Berry rental fee ranges from $3,750 – $9,000 and the starting/base fee includes the venue rental for either The Mansion, the Lakeside Ballroom, or the Estate, as a whole. Table and chairs are also included.
Each of the buildings on the property are climate-controlled.
Once you fall in love with the space (so easy!), the catering professionals will discuss your food and beverage options for your event. Rosemary’s Catering is the exclusive caterer and is able to provide a wide array of menu options for your guests to enjoy. Once food and beverage have been discussed, a proposal will be generated listing all the pricing so there are no surprises. When everything is agreed upon, a contract and a 25% deposit will secure the date for the event.
Access time will vary depending on daytime/evening and weekday/weekend rentals. Whether or not your event has exclusive access to the property, will depend on your exact rental agreement.
The venue was designed to offer much flexibility and many options. There are multiple areas for ceremonies both indoors and outdoors.
With so much space, the options are also many. The whole estate can host over 2,000 guests for cocktails and receptions.
The most unique feature is the 12-acre lake
