It’s not often that I have a couple who share the same first same. Actually, in all the weddings I have shot, I’ve never had a couple who have had the same first name. Cue Robert and Robert—referred to as Rob and Robert for the sake of keeping things straight when you are calling out their names or trying to get only one of their attention. For the sake of this blog post, Robert is the slightly taller groom in the image below, and by reason of deduction, Rob is the other groom—both of whom are incredibly kind, loving, generous men.
These two individuals crossed paths on December 17, 2016, in a twist of destiny. Their love story, filled with serendipitous moments, led them to an intimate wedding at Lambermont Events on November 12, 2022. Grab your tissues, because this one’s a heartstring-tugger!
A Star-Crossed Meeting:
Was it love at first sight? Well, in Rob and Robert’s case, it was a star-crossed kind of love. They first laid eyes on each other at a holiday party, but fate had other plans. Robert worked with Rob’s boyfriend at the time, creating a complicated situation. However, sparks flew, and their connection was undeniable. Over the next two years, they would occasionally cross paths at Robert’s work events, their hearts longing for something more.
Rob and his ex eventually parted ways, but Robert’s proximity to the ex still kept them from acting on their feelings. It wasn’t until 2020, just weeks before the COVID-19 lockdown, that they reconnected online and finally met up. Early February marked their first official date, and by March, they had “temporarily” moved in together—a decision influenced by the lockdown. The rest, as they say, is history.
A Unique Marriage Proposal:
Rob and Robert knew from the beginning that their love was meant to last. Rob meticulously planned a surprise backyard proposal during the COVID-19 lockdown on August 08, 2020. He set the stage with rose gold balloons, tiki torches, and rose petals scattered on the patio. To the soundtrack of “Gabriel’s Oboe,” he popped the question, and Robert said “yes.” Their journey to marriage was officially underway.
In their journey of love, Rob became “Sugar Bear” to Robert’s “Sweet Pea,” adding a sprinkle of sweetness to their relationship.
Wedding Date and Venue:
On November 12, 2022, the couple celebrated their love at Lambermont Events, surrounded by family and friends eager to witness their union.
Their wedding ceremony was filled with personal touches. Rob and his cousin Amanda serenaded the guests with a heartfelt rendition of “Best Part” by Daniel Cesar ft. H.E.R. during the ceremony. They also participated in a Unity Shot, symbolizing their unity, and invited attendees to join them in dancing and celebration after the ceremony. Just prior to the wedding ceremony beginning, Rob and Robert had a foot washing ceremoy and bathed each other’s feet in a show of commitment. The ritual of washing feet at a wedding originates with a story in The Holy Bible, John 13:12-18, when Jesus washes the Disciples’ feet as a sign of selfless love, humility, and forgiveness.
Mini-Moon and Future Plans:
Following the wedding, Rob and Robert enjoyed a “mini-moon,” spending one night in Fredericksburg and three nights on the Riverwalk in San Antonio. They plan to embark on a more extensive honeymoon for their one-year anniversary of their legal marriage, which took place on June 7, 2022, at the Bexar County courthouse.
Currently, they’re busy preparing for Christmas 2022, as decorating is one of their favorite activities. They moved into their dream home in November 2021 and have exciting projects planned to make it even more perfect. Traveling and exploring the world are also on their post-marriage agenda.
As a couple, Rob and Robert enjoy karaoke at home with their impressive JBL sound speakers, and relaxing on their back porch in the evenings. They’re also adventurous in the kitchen, constantly seeking out new recipes to try together. They especially love taking care of their two Goldendoodles, Charlie and Halston. Charlie and Halston are their pride and joy. These furry brothers are known for their cuddly and calm demeanor, making them the perfect companions for Rob and Robert.
Through their love and faith in God, Rob and Robert have discovered that life is a beautiful gift. They’ve learned that with love and determination, they can overcome any obstacle that comes their way.
Day Jobs and Unwinding:
Rob works as a clinical nursing consultant, using his problem-solving skills to educate and train clinicians in medical coding and documentation. Robert, on the other hand, serves as a Business Risk and Controls Advisor, helping IT teams succeed in assessments and reviews. Their favorite ways to unwind after long days include sitting on their back porch, enjoying karaoke, and taking leisurely walks.
When it’s time for a drink, Rob enjoys a smokey old fashioned, while Robert prefers a dirty vodka martini. With their unique love story, personal touches, and shared dreams, Rob and Robert are on a journey that’s just beginning, and we’re excited to see where it leads.
Rob and Robert’s love story is a reminder that sometimes, love takes its own sweet time to unfold. From that fateful holiday party to a beautiful wedding at Lambermont Events, their journey is a testament to the power of love, patience, and destiny. Cheers to Rob and Robert as they embark on this incredible journey together!

About Ata-Girl
I am a San Antonio-based wedding photographer and I cater to outdoor-loving couples who prefer to have all the realness captured on their wedding days. I am the wedding photographer for the outdoor adventurers, the romantics, the laid-back, the snugglers, and those who wish to capture all their realness.
I am absolutely in love with capturing the kinds of weddings where there are more hugs than handshakes, the dance floor rumbles all night long, and chairs are pretty much rendered useless after dinner. Whiskey bottles are passed around, most of the wedding party has been best-best friends since kindergarten, Grams is likely to lose her shoes and your partner is much more emotional than you are. These kinds of weddings are my jam!
You can always call or text, but if you really want to get to know me, schedule a meetup!
I started Ata-Girl Photography Co., LLC in 2010. I firmly believe that the unique set of circumstances I have faced in life has prepared me to take a personal and genuine interest in my photography clients. I enjoy documenting the important milestones and captivating moments in people’s lives. I love being a part of people’s journeys and consider myself privileged to document their legacies.

When I’m not behind my camera, you can find me hiking, cycling, backpacking, camping, enjoying water sports, listening to music (Elvis and Prince), hunting for arrowheads, reading audiobooks, occasionally eating a few glazed donuts (my only weakness to sweets) and then re-starting my keto diet about every 10 days. The most important things in life are for me to see my two daughters happy and to create a family history my grandparents and grandchildren would be proud of.
