Nick and Mari’s San Antonio wedding at the Los Encinos Hill Country Resort was an intimate celebration… truly intimate down to every last detail.

The bridesmaids wore custom-embroidered Converse® that included the couple’s unique hashtag “#kickaskey.” Out loud and during the ceremony, Nick and Mari shared the story of how they met at an early-morning cross-fit session and how strong their love has become for each other. Mari’s mom played the harp as she walked down the aisle. Her aunt sang a beautiful song as the two thanked their parents during the ceremony. Nick and Mari invited every single wedding guest to join them on the dance floor during their first dance.  Their Great Dane, Nissan, was featured on the cake topper. Guests were encouraged to complete a picture puzzle of the two before the night’s end.

Mari decorated each of the reception tables with items from their childhood. She had prepared brief, written stories explaining what everything was and encouraging wedding guests to ask more about them during the reception. These personal mementos added to the familiar feel of the wedding day.

There were so many personalized pieces to this wedding, I am sure I wasn’t even privy to them all. Nick and Mari went above and beyond making this wedding distinctive, memorable and extremely special.

Nick and Mari chose to share in a first look prior to reciting their wedding vows. The two shared a short, private time together and exchanged love letters. I stepped back and photographed the two of them having this very special moment.

This was one of my most favorite (and adorable) moments of the day. The flower girls were Mari’s two grandmothers!! La Verne and Celia are just darling coming down the aisle tossing the flowers.

Mason, the ring bearer, needed a little extra encouragement, but he finally made it all the way down the aisle. For a brief moment, all eyes were on him as his dad, Nick’s brother, and mom tried to coax him along. Mason really seemed to ham it up and took his time getting the rings delivered.

Nick and his mom, Tammy, really seemed to enjoy the mother-son dance.

What began as an ordinary father and daughter dance, quickly morphed into this!

I don’t know why, but catching Mari getting her dress caught in the door cracks me up. I think it is because her friends were cutting the dance floor in half to 80’s tunes when this happened.

The happily wed couple said goodbye to their guests under an arbor of sparklers.
