I attended Rocco Ancora’s PLUS Class at the 2017 WPPI in Las Vegas earlier this year. It was called The Anatomy of a Fine Art Print. This wasn’t the first time I had invested in Rocco’s willingness to share his skills, knowledge and expertise. I also hired Rocco to post-process and prepare my 2017 WPPI image competition prints and I purchased a photo walk with him at the 2015 WPPI.
Rocco personally invited the students of his 2017 PLUS class to attend a live taping of his Creative Live class in Seattle, Washington. Creative Live said YES!
I am so excited! I am constantly preaching that as professional photographers, we need to consistently further our craft since there is no singular organization that governs us. I even identify my willingness to seek higher education as one of the five key differences that I believe set me apart from most photographers claiming to be professionals in this video. This is yet another opportunity to learn from a master and further my own skill set. And another example of practicing what I preach!
Rocco, pictured in the center below, is an triple master photographer of WPPI and master printer. He is one of only ten photographers with this prestigious title in the WPPI community.
From the time I began pursuing a career as a professional photographer, I stumbled across an online learning resource called Creative Live. I have recommended this time and again to many photographer friends who were also on a journey to learn to be better photographers.
Creative Live is a resource to entrepreneurial creatives, not only photographers, who want to learn to new skills and better business and marketing tactics. You can tune in any day and watch select courses for free from the comfort of your own home. If you decide to purchase any of the courses, you add them to your own personal library to come back and watch at your leisure time and time again. You can even download them and take them on the go. I own 11 of my own Creative Live classes. They are:
- Wedding Photography: Capturing the Story, Rocco Ancora and Ryan Schembri
- Working with Flash, Pye Jersa
- Incredible Engagement Photography, Pye Jersa
- Picture Perfect Lighting, Roberto Valenzuela
- Master the Business of Photography, Sal Cincotta
- Location Lighting 101, Lindsay Adler
- Think Like a $10K Wedding Photographer, Scott Robert Lim
- Wedding Post-Production Work Flow, Jennifer Cody and John Aarnio
- Creative Wedding Photography, Susan Stripling
- Marketing and Promotion, Sue Bryce
- Wedding Photography Bootcamp, Sal Cincotta
And, I’m about to own one more: From Capture to Print with Rocco Ancora. When you are a student on the Creative Live set, one of the perks is owning the class you participated in.
I am hopeful that this two-day intensive class can enlighten me on methods to improve all aspects of my photography… from capturing to printing.
I’m Going to be on TV
If you care to watch, the class will air on March 29th and 30th. You can watch for FREE at www.creativelive.com. When I’m not photographing a wedding, I love to spend my spare time hiking, camping, cycling, reading, listening to Elvis and Prince. The most important things in life are for me to see my two daughters happy and to create a family history my grandparents and grandson would be proud of!
