With 73 acres, a barn, rolling hills, gorgeous oak trees, a historical rock house with a sunken floor, and canvases on canvases of wildflowers in the right seasons, I can’t even quantify the number of photographic opportunities that the Circle J Ranch has to offer. There’s also cattle, horses, and a few donkeys and minature horses that are all very friendly (and curious) and like to be involved— or maybe they’re just accustomed to the treats they get! The possibilities are near endless. What’s also notable is that simply by asking, Meka just might let you “borrow” the property for your engagement, bridal, quinciñera, or birthday portraits even though you’re not an actual Circle J client.

Introduction of Circle J Ranch

Circle J Ranch is a 73-acre working cattle ranch situated just 25 miles south of downtown San Antonio. Circle J is a metal barn venue with roll-up doors on the east and the west sides. Sliding glass doors have also been added to the east side of the barn which is normally where the head table/sweetheart table is placed. At night, this allows the romantic sky to peek inside. The barn has a small catering kitchen and a bridal suite with a bathroom. There is also a detached bathroom building.

Venue Options

To secure your wedding date, a $500 retainer is required.

The base price of $3,250 includes ceremony and reception decor and setup. You can choose from three arches, three types of aisle rugs, two different chair styles for your ceremony and reception, black or white table linens, and non-floral centerpieces. You have eight hours of access time to the venue for your event, but it must be concluded by midnight. Only one event is allowed per day. The barn is climate-controlled.

Ceremony, Cocktail & Reception Details

Ceremony options are pretty much endless. However, many couples usually choose to exchange vows underneath the oak trees right outside the barn or venture up the hill a bit and have their marriage ceremony in front of the 100-year-old rock building. Guests can peer through its windows gazing basically forever at Texas. Meka has also constructed an additional permanent gazebo near the rock building for another ceremony option.

Cocktail hour options are unlimited. There are oak trees, front lawns, back lawns, side lawns…

Receptions are either in the barn or on the lawn.

Meka is always adding decór/furniture and finding other ways to improve on her couples’ experience. She literally wants all the weddings and events to be as beautiful as possible, but with the least amount of stress and effort on her couples. (She even keeps a wedding dress or two on hand—just in case!)
