When you usually hear of  a South Texas wedding ceremony… on an August afternoon… that will be outdoors, the first thought that comes to mind is NOT, “Oh boy, I can’t wait for that.”   However, this wedding will definitely go down in the record books as a rockin’ good time even as hot as it was on this August 3rd afternoon.

All of Stellisa and JR’s decorations were either personally selected or hand-made, including her colorful bouquet.  It was covered in brooches—some of them belonging to Stellisa’s great-grandmother.  A deer antler served as the “stem.”  The front door greeted you with shabby chic furniture, candle jars and a huge oil painting for guests to sign!  The round dinner tables were covered in turquoise cloths and then topped in burlap and lace runners.  Fresh flower arrangements, antlers, vegetable tins, and assorted mason jars brought the tables to life for the guests!

The entire bridal party looked fabulous!  The ladies wore turquoise lace dresses and boots.  Stellisa added some color to her own gown ensemble by wearing  six connected strands of pearls complemented with turquoise beads and turquoise-topped cowgirl boots.  The men wore white button-up shirts with turquoise ties except JR who opted for white on white.

Stellisa and JR did all they could to make sure the guests were as comfortable as possible and enjoyed themselves!  First off, if you had any qualms with sitting through the 10-minute ceremony underneath the Texas August sun,  dinnertime quickly alleviated that.  For a moment I thought I might be photographing the Texas Cattlemen’s Association Annual Convention Even because of the amount of beef being served.  The generous rib-eye steaks were grilled to perfection and immediately made you forget how hot it had been!  If that wasn’t delightful enough, you got to chase down all that beef with sweets.  The sinful choices for dessert were three flavors of cupcakes decorated as colorful flowers, a turquoise-colored cake topper adorned with fresh flowers and succulents, or a groom’s cake decorated with red drum, flounder and trout.  The fish were so realistic I had to look not twice, but three times to make sure there weren’t actual dead fish on the cake.  The party gifts were more sugar-filled goodness!  They were cute little cake pops delicately placed in personalized, small mason jars filled with shredded confetti paper.

For fun and entertainment, there was a photo booth with all sorts of fun props.  I will not reveal how many men I witnessed sporting coconut bras and pink boas, but it appeared they were having a really great time.  The guests danced the night away practically wearing out the dance floor… it literally took the band unplugging the equipment to get them to stop.  Of course, when the party finally ended, JR and Stellisa only had a short 200-yard trip to their wedding night quarters since they were staying the night at the venue.

The ceremony and reception were beyond lovely!  I am blessed this adoring, cute couple asked me to document the beginning of their lives together as man and wife.  I wish them nothing but the best as they begin this brand new chapter in their lives!  Good luck, Mr. & Mrs.!
