While my senior session experience is still only limited to a handful of students, I don’t normally show up to the shoot and see Dad’s truck loaded down with photo props. It’s usually Mom with all the clothes, shoes, and ideas. While this dad has already had one child graduate, he hasn’t had one of his two girls graduate. I’m guessing he was excited to be a part of the photo shoot. His truck was loaded with an assortment of tables and chairs, and there were also a few hats he had picked out for his daughter. (I think she forgot them on the kitchen counter, because we didn’t use them in any of the pictures.) He may have had some other stuff in the truck, but I’m not sure what it was. He also had preselected a few of the locations we would be using for this shoot. It was really cute.
We took the majority of the pictures on the family’s property which consisted of a huge piece of petrified wood, a pier, a tank, and a really awesome old barn. The barn has to be near 100-years-old. What makes it so awesome is that each side looks like it could be part of a different barn. So, with one barn you get four photo props — all spectacular. I only used three sides for this particular shoot.
Shelbee was an amazing subject, and she even brought along her trusty sidekick, Sydney. Sydney must really know everything there is to know about Shelbee, and I’m guessing that some of the information is confidential information. Any time I needed Shelbee to have a genuine smile, Sydney would mutter the name of some hunk in high school and Shelbee would just burst into laughter. These smiles were priceless. Sydney also served as my “unofficial” second shooter because every time I turned around, Sydney was also snapping a Kodak moment. At one point, I was lying on the ground to get a slightly different perspective when I noticed I was being photographed. (Syd, if I EVER see those pictures on Facebook, I’m coming after you and your iPhone, girl!)
All in all, Shelbee took some amazing photos. She was easy to photograph and is a beautiful girl. Here is my favorite shot from the day:
