Even though Kyanna has now graduated from high school… she will always be my baby… just like she was my baby during this San Antonio senior portrait session.
I want these images to help preserve all of Kyanna’s memories. I want the images to serve as visual queues when her mind becomes weak and unable to recall details (right about the time she turns 40 if she is anything like her mom). I want her to feel the excitement of the first day of her senior year, to hear the traffic in the high school parking lot and smell the food in the cafeteria. I want her to relive the enthusiasm of Friday night football games and close her eyes and be able to sense the trust and unity of her many teammates. I want her to remember this exact time in her life.
My goal with senior photography is to always capture the subject’s unique personality and to document what they are like at this precious time in their lives. I want the images to capture their beauty, strength and independence. I wish there was a decisive way to sit these kids down and have them understand that this one of the very best times of their lives! They need to have mental recordings of the important pieces of advice they received from teachers, principals and coaches. They need to breathe in every second of their final year in high school and etch it on their memories’ walls. They need to commit memories to memory and never forget their special friends and the times they had together. High school is so much more than algebra, chemistry and term papers. It’s about learning how to succeed in life… learning what to value in life… and learning to make the right choices.
Here are a few of my favorite images from Kyanna’s San Antonio senior portrait session:
