Last month, I had the pleasure to visit a beautiful Texas hill country wedding venue in preparation for a wedding that I will be shooting there in March.  I’ll be second shooting for Cristina Young at the Gardens of Cranesbury View.  Cristina and I toured ourselves around the property while Amy was visiting with a bride. When she was finished, we had a few minutes to sit down and talk with Amy.  She is such a delightful lady!  I have never met another venue owner who had this much passion and who was so pure.  Amy also took a few minutes to answer some interview questions for me.

1. How long have you been a venue owner?

I have been working with weddings for about 25 years.

2. What got you interested in starting your business?

As I was in college getting a degree in Ornamental Horticulture (plants), I came into contact with a gal who owned a beautiful Victorian house with a gorgeous garden and she would rent it out for weddings.  In fact, I was married there. This is when God put the passion in my heart to own a wedding venue. I saw the love and care she put into her business and I wanted to do the same. My gardens specialize in European design, which is the style I just love. It all fit so beautifully!

3. What do you feel sets you apart from other venue owners in the wedding industry?

We do weddings for a whole different reason; for us it’s a ministry, and when you are doing it for that reason it brings you nothing but joy and happiness to do it. We love on your brides and grooms with personalize service, guidance and love in a very safe and loving environment. We offer service that other venues do not offer to allow our brides and grooms to have a very smooth and stress-free wedding day.

4. What kind of venue did you use in your own wedding? Would you still make the same choice now if you were getting married today?

I was married at a beautiful Victorian house that a gal owned that was surrounded by flowering gardens. As a Horticulturist, it had to be a garden. I would still make the same choice.

5. What do you enjoy most about working in the wedding industry?

I love getting to know my couples, they are pretty amazing and so put together. I love seeing their day come to fruition and seeing them so happy. I feel so blessed to just be a part of life at one of the biggest events of their lives.

6. When meeting with brides who don’t know much about venues, what is the biggest tip you find yourself giving them?

I enjoy guiding my brides and grooms by educating them with options and helping them to evolve their ideas and bringing their ideas to life so they can visualize it beautifully. We are walking them through every part so we make it super easy and fun!

7. What current trend in venues do you personally like the most?

I love the vintage, romance look. Lace and pearls and soft colors are so stunning. I am enjoying the Grecian emphasis in the hair styles and dress styles.

8. Any fun-facts that we should really know that would help to know more about you?

I am a plant nerd, so I get so excited to talk flowers with my brides. I have fun looking at and reading all of the comments on my brides Pinterest® board to learn more about them.
