Getting to celebrate your dad’s 71st birthday with him is a blessing—especially when our family had already suffered so much loss before he had even turned 45. Through everything we have endured, we have always been blessed with each other’s unconditional love and strength. In times when I hear about so many other families falling apart… not speaking to each other… refusing forgiveness… holding grudges… failing to congregate and basically, just forging through the world alone, I am thankful that my own family has remained steadfastly together.

Oh… and my baby brother turned 43 Sunday!!! My grandfather would have turned 111 yesterday. My dad turned 71 today! Yes, they celebrate their birthdays three days in succession.
