As I often do on wedding day, I batted a thousand on my infamous ability to mess up people’s names. I referred to Bethany as Whitney, Lauren as Bethany, Kenneth as Randall and even referred to my assistant, Brentley, as Karley. But despite this AND the all-day forecast of 35-40% chance of thunderstorms, the day was absolutely perrrrr-fect!
The fact that it rained in the morning and retained a pretty high chance of rain the rest of the day made for some incredibly dramatic skies—my favorite kind! The temperatures were highly favorable as well—not too hot or humid and not too cold. Bethany was absolutely, stunningly gorgeous and Will wasn’t too shabby either. This couple was hot and on fire in the best kind of way from the processional right on through their sparkler exit. But I will also add, that Tillie gave both of them of real run for their money vying for the central spot light.
Bethany & Will’s Hill Country Wedding
Here are some of my favorite parts of Bethany and Will’s hill country wedding.
I was the only other person there to witness (and document) the love, emotion and connection between the bride and mother prior to the ceremony.
I loved watching a best friend, since childhood, helping the bride to finish getting dressed.
From my second shooter’s perspective: I love the groom’s dad standing in as “the bride” to rehearse the ceremony right before the actual ceremony.
First looks are always incredibly touching, and even more so, when it’s Dad who is the one who is given the distinct honor of being the very first man who sees the bride in her gown.
Also from my second shooter, I love when love becomes a tangible thing and can be felt, heard, and in this case, seen and photographed.
I loved watching Dad walk his daughter to her new groom. The processional walk at Firefly Farm is an abnormally long one… so that gives everyone plenty of time to enjoy this special moment and breathe it in—breathe it all in.
Will enjoyed this moment too!
I loved the way Will comforted Bethany during their emotional and very personal wedding vows. I might add that non-traditional wedding vows are my favorite.
And I loved the way Will reciprocated with his own bit of emotion.
This moment was the absolute highlight of the night for me. I’ve been waiting my entire wedding photography career for the bride and groom to be hoisted in the air on the guests’ shoulders!! Win!
And last, but certainly not least, I love how Will caught Bethany totally off guard with his spontaneity and swept her off of her feet at the end of night.
Here are a few more of my favorite images from the day:
