As long as I have been a photographer, I have dreamed of having a photography studio… a real life, brick and mortar, inventory of backdrops and chairs and other beautiful props, plucked-straight-from-NYC studio! After nearly eight years in the business, this past October I took the plunge and I made that dream a reality.

Welcome to my studio.
Invitation to Studio 206
My studio is located just west of downtown San Antonio in an old warehouse. It is on the second floor of a 14,000 square foot, re-purposed uniform factory that was built in 1927 situated on .35 acre. Yes, it IS 90-years-old and not in the swankiest of neighborhoods but it is a creative loft space and I am in fantastic company!! My fellow tenants are a leather goods manufacturer (ahem… a world famous leather outfitter), architect, media specialist, tattoo artist, coffee bean curator, makeup artist and other grossly talented San Antonio photographers. I love this space!
I am going to be able to make some gorgeous art here! In fact, I’ve already shot a styled shoot (wedding) with some incredulous wedding day creatives (blog coming soon) and I booked out two days of Christmas family portraits. I can’t wait to see what other incredible things happen in this space. This amazing space.
I love the barn door! This door opens up to an amazing 620 square feet of creative space! My creative space.
The natural light that floods this place is amazing! The only drawback is the awful electric poles and lines right outside the windows. But hey, I can mostly work around those. There are plans to eventually camouflage the conduit and electric panel. Shear curtains and blackout curtains will also be installed one day.
The back corner is reserved for some gear storage, additional props and a changing area. There’s also plenty of room for a hair and makeup artist (HMUA) to work directly inside the studio and stay on site during any shoot.
There is also a tiny spot reserved for a kitchenette area.
This wall will eventually be filled with wall art and other product samples.
In addition to being able to use these pieces of furniture as props, they also serve to function as a client meeting area.
The 32″ monitor will be dual purpose. Not only will I be able to use it during my client consultations and reveals, I will be able to tether my camera to it while live shooting like shown below.
