John is my little brother and has been ever since I can remember. When his fiancee asked me to take some country engagement session photos for them, I knew it would be a very difficult to task to keep my brother focused and serious. I knew this because despite the fact that he’s four years younger than I am, he thinks and acts like he’s ten years older. He has that whole “big brother pestering business” down to a science. So, I devised a plan that during the photo shoot my name would be… Margaret. I theorized that if I was Margaret, he would act better and this experience would be a whole lot less painful for everyone. And, for this Texas country engagement session, I could succeed in getting some really great engagement shots to showcase at their wedding. It wasn’t a very good plan. It really didn’t have any bearing on the way he acted. He would have acted the same had I been the real Mother Theresa. Besides the one small incident where he pantsed me in the middle of County Road 329 (and I’m talking to MY ANKLES), everything else was only a minor aggravation. He had intermittent fits of struggling with his behavior, but nothing major. I must admit his willingness surprised me. My FAV shot from the day!

John & Shanna

All in all, we shot at six different locations and had about nine wardrobe changes for Shanna. I told Shanna to not be intimidated by colors or patterns and she took my advice well. She did an excellent job coordinating the wardrobe changes. We tried to keep John from changing his clothes as often as Shanna to ensure that he stayed in good spirits, and for the most part, that worked. He never seemed too irritated with all of this. It was a lot to shoot in less than two hours, and I wouldn’t recommend doing it again. But, it was a good learning experience. I do hope that the photos we were able to capture on this day serve to help John and Shanna remember what all this is about {L-O-V-E}. I hope the two grow old together! (And, I hope someone will pants my brother in public!) Love, Margaret
