Karley’s first senior session was all about the city and glammin’ it up with style! This country girl session was all about her grandpa’s new barn, his old tractor and a magnificent sunset next to a barbed wire fence. Oh. And her cats. She wanted to include her cats… all 17 of them. 🙂 Well, all three of them. (Fact: She’s the reason I have three cats of my own.)
Her grandpa, who also happens to be my dad, says that he has wanted this barn his whole life. He waited 70 years. Even more remarkable is that the barn is on the same property he grew up as a young boy. The barn sits really close to where he used to bathe in the family bathhouse. What an extraordinary opportunity we had to use it as a backdrop for Karley’s senior session. We not only captured some great senior portraits of Karley, we also documented some family history for future generations to see how the barn looked upon its completion.
At one point, we also thought we were taking photos of a John Deere tractor that used to belong to my grandfather. Turns out, it wasn’t. That tractor was sold years before and replaced by one that had fewer hours on it. I was disappointed for a bit knowing that Karley wasn’t posed on her great-grandfather’s tractor. Then, I realized she was posed on the next best thing—her grandfather’s tractor.
With two sessions down and only one to go (Thank you, Karley, for being on top of your senior session planning!!!), I’m getting getting excited to see what we will plan for her final. We will document her athletic and sporty side! I hope she lets me get creative!
