As best I can remember, Chase is the most bona fide cowboy I’ve photographed—but I have to add—still in high school. Because back in the day, I used to work for a little rope manufacturing company. If you’re a cowboy/girl, you might just recognize the name Cactus Ropes. While working at Cactus Ropes, I’m going to guess that I photographed some of Chase’s idols in the roping world: Trevor Brazile, Chad Masters, Clay O’ Brien Cooper, Allen Bach, David Key and Stran Smith to name a few. If you’re not familiar with the roping world, these cowboys are like the Michael Jordans of the industry.
Chase, his mom and dad, and I had a lot of fun on this country boy senior session. We included some of Chase’s favorite dogs and horses and shot the session on his grandfather’s south Texas property. Chase was a super trooper and appeared to have fun the whole time, especially when he was making faces at me during my test shots. In fact, he appeared to be having a little too much fun when he was crossing his eyes and sticking out his tongue. At one point, Ada, his mom, asked about the durability of my camera equipment. Ten minutes later and because I accidentally gave it a really good whack, my 24-70mm was dead and has been in the camera hospital ever since. I’m hoping to get it back soon!
I’m looking forward to the next two country boy senior sessions with Chase. However, I’m going to have to cut down on my test shots.
Country Boy Senior Session
Until next time, be positive, happy, and healthy, and don’t forget to be photographed.
