The first session with Mikala began with her tires screeching down FM140 as she tried to stop after she spotted her mom and I waiting for her at the last minute. She pulled on to the country road, got out of her Expedition, and showed me the new damages to her vehicle from hitting a deer. She recounted how scary that was. (I’ve got to add that her dad is pretty ingenious at temporary fixes for body damage!) Mikala is a country girl. One of her favorite past times is hammocking—I’m pretty sure I just invented that word. Mikala also loves backpacking and hiking—two activities also very dear to my heart.

Mikala has been the drum major at Jourdanton High School for the past three years. I’ve watched her direct the band for at least some thirty football games. When Mikala is in front of the band, she always seems full of pride, honor and excitement. It’s visible. Honest.

As a full-time professional photographer, my sole purpose is to provide amazing, memorable and full-service photography.

I started Ata-Girl Photography Co., LLC in 2010. I firmly believe that the unique set of circumstances I have faced in life has prepared me to take a personal and genuine interest in my photography clients. I enjoy documenting the important milestones and captivating moments in people’s lives. I love being a part of people’s journey and consider myself privileged to document their legacies.

When I’m not photographing a wedding, family or high school senior, I love to spend my spare time hiking, cycling, reading, listening to Elvis and Prince. The most important things in life are for me to see my two daughters happy and to create a family history my grandparents would be proud of!
