It took two attempts, but we finally rocked out an awesome family session this past December. Our second meeting took us to Corpus Christi for the shoot, and who was I to complain? Corpus is a little more south in Texas than I usually shoot, but it has beaches, sun (though not too much in December) and the best fajita platter on the planet (Las Brasas?) at La Playa Mexican Restaurant—which I ate while I was there… twice.
The entire weekend was a little muggy, but we waited until Sunday for the shoot. Jennifer and Woody’s Saturday was filled with volunteering at a bar-b-q fundraiser for a friend who had been viciously attacked. He had been given a very grim prognosis, but I believe it was sometime during the weekend that he was starting to make great and unexpected strides in his recovery.
We ended up at a river park near the Atwoods home. Even though I was shooting blindly, we found a few spots within the park that made for excellent backdrops for their family portraits. The park was a good match for this family because they love hunting and fishing. I personally know that Jennifer’s favorite fish is the flounder. The session was awesome even though I didn’t take my chihuahua, Ozzie, to attack Will during the shoot. Will is always making fun of and picking on my pooch. Yet, Ozzie terrifies Will. Karrigan and Jennifer were absolutely beautiful and Woody demonstrated the utmost patience. I appreciate you guys for letting me capture a memory for you!
I started Ata-Girl Photography Co. in 2010 and I am a San Antonio based wedding photographer who is available for destination weddings. In addition to wedding photography, I also specialize in San Antonio senior portraits and senior portraits for high school seniors in the surrounding areas. I am a professional photographer who enjoys documenting the important milestones and captivating moments in people’s lives. I firmly believe that the unique set of circumstances I have faced in life has prepared me to take a personal and genuine interest in my photography clients. When I’m not photographing a wedding, family or high school senior, I enjoy watching my daughter play softball, hiking, cycling and listening to Elvis!
