My favorite images tend to be the ones where the subject appears to be in deep thought… the ones where it’s easy to imagine what someone may be thinking. Although Allison is a stunning young beauty and looks deep in thought, I chose this favorite image of the month based on the fact that I’m trying to expand my photography boundaries. I’m trying to learn new techniques, different ways of doing things and expand my skill sets. A photographer never finishes learning.
In this image, I added a fill light… actually two: a strobe at camera right and camera left. The image was backlit and rather than using a reflector (as I normally would have), I wanted to fill the scene using a new technique. In hindsight, I would have probably only used one strobe directly in front Allison, but I’m still pleased with the image’s lighting. Allison is a gorgeous girl and this image shows just that!
Until next time, be positive, happy, and healthy, and don’t forget to be photographed.

I am a professional photographer who enjoys documenting the important milestones and captivating moments in people’s lives. I firmly believe that the unique set of circumstances I have faced in life has prepared me to take a personal and genuine interest in my photography clients. When I’m not photographing a wedding, family or high school senior, I enjoy watching my daughter play softball, hiking, cycling, reading, and listening to Elvis!
