Technically, my favorite image for May was shot on June 1st. I’m not sure how, but I really flubbed that one up. However, this image was really shot in June in Gruene, Texas—the Texas town with the highest number of power lines per capita of anywhere I’ve photographed before. It took me way longer than usual to retouch this session because of all the darn power lines. For the record, I HATE power lines!
This is my favorite image from June because Chase was so excited about shooting here. He had asked about this location months in advance. He had flags, 10 different t-shirts and his proud parents in tow. He even lined up a date with his gorgeous girlfriend after the shoot to dance the night away listening to Larry Joe Taylor. Here is Chase walking down the main drag, toward the oldest dance hall in Texas, and in my imagination, he is thinking life is pretty freakin’ great right now. He just finished high school, he’s on his way to college and he is in Gruene, Texas to hear Larry Joe Taylor with his girlfriend. Life is good.
**In researching who played at Gruene Hall on June 13, I discovered that Lisa Marie Presley played there in September of last year. Why wasn’t I notified? I’ve gotta keep an eye on the Gruene Hall calendar of events. I just signed up for three Gruene newsletters, so that WON’T happen again.
Until next time, be positive, happy, and healthy, and don’t forget to be photographed.
