FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Service Specific Questions
What is standard in your wedding day collections?
I have many standard offerings that others only include as add-ons (additional fees). For a quick and easy comparison, check out these wedding day details and compare with other photographers you are shopping! If you’re looking for an all-inclusive photography experience, this is it!
What types of wedding collections does Ata-Girl offer?
I have four wedding collections that are all-inclusive. They range from four hours of coverage to ten hours. Some of the things included in the collections are photo albums (made it Italy), bridal and/or engagement sessions, high resolution digital negatives with printing privileges, same day slide shows, second shooters and wedding day assistants. My collections start at $3,500.
Why are you a wedding photographer?
I am a wedding photographer because I love to capture intimate interactions between people. Family is the single most important thing in my life and the area of my life where I have suffered the most loss. Because I have “loved and lost,” I realize the value of family; I cherish family. My aim is to share my skills and passion for photography to document and preserve the love and affection shared at this important milestone for you and for generations to come.
How would you describe your wedding photography style?
I would describe my style as mostly photojournalistic with an editorial flair. Most of the day will be documented with me floating around the room, standing unobtrusively against a wall watching what takes place. I will not ask you to pose or expect you to even look at my camera. I will not ask you to say cheese. I will simply capture the day as it happens. This is the photojournalistic part. There may be an occasion or two when I ask you to just sit a second longer and continue looking into the mirror. I might ask your mother, also in the frame, to slightly turn her shoulders to the left. This is not so much posing but rather setting up more of an editorial shot.
What types of products do you offer?
I offer cards that are flat or folded (Graduation, Wedding Invitations), gallery wrapped canvases, metal prints, acrylic prints, slate prints, thin wraps, accordion mini books and linen- and leather-bound photo albums. My albums and folio boxes are handcrafted with archival-quality papers and inks and will not to fade or yellow for at least 300 years. I purchase all of my products from professional labs and vendors, most of which only resell to professional photographers. I have an in-house studio to show all these samples.
What distinguishes your work from other photographers’ work?
First and foremost, I don’t follow photography trends. My goal is for all my work to be timeless. I want my work to be intimate, classic and to tell your story. I try to establish a personal connection with my clients. I firmly believe the absolute best way to preserve a memory is with a photograph. I’m very passionate about photography. I strive to improve my skills on a daily basis! I make it a point to read, study, look, observe, practice, absorb, listen, watch, test, or buy something related to photography every single day! I’ve been trained by the U. S. Army, served a little over four years protecting my country in active duty and did I mention I send gifts?
What types of portraits does Ata-Girl shoot?
I have recently limited my portrait sessions to engagement, bridal, and high school seniors only. I do not shoot any other type of portraits. My portrait sessions offer both print and digital files.
Why is your photography limited to only certain types?
I want to become well versed in these areas of photography. By limiting what I shoot, I can concentrate my efforts on improving my skill and offer my clients not only a fantastic experience, but superb images. If you need another type of photography, please let me know and I can recommend someone from my professional network for you.
General Booking Questions
Does Ata-Girl have a studio or shoot on location?
Both. I have a 620 square foot warehouse studio in downtown San Antonio, and I also shoot on location. I use the studio for client meetings as well as shooting.
What types of photography does Ata-Girl shoot?
I shoot weddings and other formal events, bridal sessions, engagement and couple sessions, and seniors. I also shoot sports and action, but that is primarily for Jourdanton ISD. I do not hire out for other sporting events unless I have a guaranteed minimum. I will also begin scheduling seasonal family and children’s portraiture in my studios.
What days can I book a session?
I am available for any shoot Monday through Friday. However, I reserve Saturdays for weddings only.
What time slots are available for sessions?
For location shooting, I either schedule my portrait sessions at sunrise or sunset sessions. Studio sessions can be booked at any time.
What does it cost?
My senior collections tart at $795, and wedding collections begin at $3,500.
How do I book a session or event?
What is the retainer requirement?
In order to officially book a session or wedding coverage, a non-refundable retainer is required to secure the date on my calendar. This is half of the amount due. The remaining balance is due seven days prior to the portrait session and 30 days prior to weddings and other events.
When will I receive my digital proofs?
I guarantee that your digital proofs will be available within 14 days of any portrait session and within 21 days of your wedding, but I frequently deliver them sooner than that. In fact, I have recently been writing a 10-day turnaround into my wedding contracts.
How far will Ata-Girl travel for a shoot?
Travel for weddings and the related shoots are not limited in terms of distance; however, I may require travel and lodging expenses for destination weddings or any shoots more than 100 miles from my home. I prefer to keep all of my portrait sessions within 100 miles of my home base, but further locations will be considered. In some instances, there will be charge for mileage.
Do you charge tax for your services?
The state of Texas requires me to charge tax on all my services and products.
