Many children are going back to school today and they are not alone.  So am I.  To Duke University.  For free.

This isn’t a joke.  I’ve enrolled in two classes through coursera.org:  Think Again: How to Reason and Argue from Duke University and Creativity, Innovation, and Change from Pennsylvania State University.  There’s no charge to attend the online class, but you don’t actually receive college credits either.  If you successfully finish the course with a passing grade, you receive a certificate.

I’m constantly looking for ways to grow my photography business, expand my knowledge and be better prepared for whatever life has to offer me.  I am hoping that these two classes will do all three things.  I believe my speaking skills have always been inefficient.  It’s never been a problem for me to express myself in the written sense, but ask me to say out loud the same thing and my tongue loses its way.  I fumble for words; I can hear them in my head, but they just never come out the way they’re supposed to.  I have a really hard time expressing myself in a verbal manner.  I’m hoping the class on reasoning and arguing will help me in this regard.  I’m hoping the class on creativity will help me to see things differently… to think outside the box so-to-speak.  This will help my photography be different… not just different spins or near copies of other photographers’ work, but actually different.

Here’s to going back to school!

What post is any good without pictures?  None.  Here’s a few more pictures of my summer trip to New York City.  Until next time, be positive, happy, and healthy, and don’t forget to be photographed.

When I’m not photographing a wedding, family or high school senior, I enjoy watching my daughter play softball, hiking, cycling, reading, and listening to Elvis!
